About the attorney
Andres F. Callejas was born in Medellin, Colombia. Mr. Callejas is a graduate of Delbarton School. He is also a graduate from Drew University with a Double Bachelors Degree in Political Science and Spanish. Mr. Callejas graduated from Rutgers University School of Law – Newark. As a Morristown native and a first generation immigrant, Mr. Callejas has first-hand experience as to the many difficulties minorities and immigrants face in the United States, sparking his passion and interest in Immigration Law.
Prior to law school, Mr. Callejas worked as a paralegal for the Roop Law Firm, PLLC, in Vienna Virginia for two years. During his first summer of law school, Mr. Callejas interned at the New York Legal Assistance Group in the Domestic Violence Family Unit, where he researched and assisted in VAWA (Violence Against Women Act)
cases and U-Visa cases.

Mr. Callejas was also part of the Child Advocacy Clinic during the spring semester of his second year of law school. There he worked on various complex immigration cases, including assisting in a Special Immigrant Juvenile Status case. During his last year of law school, Mr. Callejas was employed at the Parwani Law Firm, P.C. in New York City, which specializes solely immigration matters. During his time at the Parwani Law Firm, Mr. Callejas worked on Family Based petitions, Employment Based petitions, Adjustment of Status applications, and Naturalization applications. During his last year of law school, Mr. Callejas also interned for the Honorable Judge Daniel Yablonsky, J.S.C. in Essex County Family Court. After graduating law school, Mr. Callejas joined the Smotritsky Law Group, PLLC in Newark, New Jersey, specializing in immigration matters. During his time at the Smotritsky Law Group, Mr. Callejas worked on various immigration cases, such as Asylum petitions, Cancelation of Removal cases, Deportation cases, among other immigration matters. Mr. Callejas represented individuals in Immigration Court in Newark, New Jersey and New York, New York.
Since the inception of The Callejas Law Firm, Mr. Callejas has provided excellent representation to clients dealing with various immigration matters. Mr. Callejas has experienced the immigration system first hand, immigrating to the United States at the age 9. Mr. Callejas is concerned about the consequences that immigration issues can have on his clients and their families. He is passionate and eager to use his experience in aiding individuals resolve their immigration issues.
